Profile
The Lamoille County Players, based in Hyde Park, Vermont, is a non-profit organization promoting the arts through high-quality and affordable theater experiences. Founded in 1952, the group has entertained audiences for over seven decades. The Players perform in the historic Hyde Park Opera House, a charming venue built in 1912 following a devastating fire that destroyed much of the village in 1910.
The Hyde Park Opera House has been home to the Lamoille County Players since their inception, when Reverend John Knight famously said, “Hey, let’s put on a show!” This spirited call to action led to the group’s first production, Gilbert & Sullivan’s “The Mikado,” which was a resounding success. Since then, the Players have continued producing various shows, including musicals, dramas, and comedies, attracting talent and audiences across Lamoille County and beyond.
Over the years, the Lamoille County Players have maintained and improved the Opera House, ensuring its continued use as a vibrant space for theatrical productions and other performing arts events. The group’s commitment to providing a supportive, educational, and fun atmosphere for cast and crew members has fostered a strong sense of community among theater enthusiasts in the area. With a rich history and a dedicated following, the Lamoille County Players continue to bring the magic of live theater to Hyde Park and the surrounding communities.
